Additionally, a group of Chinese companies, including China Aviation Supplies Holding Co, ICBC Financial Leasing Co and China Development Bank Leasing, made orders in Seattle for 300 Boeing aircraft. The value of the orders has not been disclosed. The 737 completion center, which will be a joint venture of the two aircraft manufacturers, will mark the first time for Boeing to build a production facility outside the United States. The deal also is a sign of the two countries' deeper cooperation in the civil aviation industry. "It's more than just selling our airplanes or selling our products. It's also about developing partnerships that have depth and breadth, technical content and substance," said Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing's CEO, at an aerospace conference in Seattle on Tuesday.

    railway
The Union Pacific Railroad (reporting mark UP) (or legally Union Pacific Railroad Company and simply Union Pacific) is a freight hauling railroad that operates 8,500 locomotives over 32,100 route-miles in 23 states west of Chicago and New Orleans. The original company, the Union Pacific Rail Road was incorporated on July 1, 1862, under an act of Congress entitled Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. The act was approved by President Abraham Lincoln, and it provided for the construction of railroads from the Missouri River to the Pacific as a war measure for the preservation of the Union.[2] It was constructed westward from Council Bluffs, Iowa to meet the Central Pacific Railroad line, which was constructed eastward from San Francisco Bay. The combined Union Pacific-Central Pacific line became known as the First Transcontinental Railroad and later the Overland RouteThe line was constructed primarily by Irish labor who had learned their craft during the recent Civil War.

    • http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/05834616-0647-11e5-89c1-00144feabdc0.html The chief executive of Union Pacific, the US’s largest rail network, has vowed legal action over a provision of new rules for oil trains that he says would cost billions of dollars and provide little benefit. The pledge from Lance Fritz threatens further delay to rules that have already been years in preparation. The Federal Railroad Administration and Canadian regulators jointly announced the rules less than a month ago to improve the safety of oil movements by rail, which have risen sharply following the surge in US oil and gas production in recent years. The surge — from only about 1m tonnes of traffic in 2007 to roughly 40m in 2013, the last year for which full data are available — has exposed the shortcomings of existing safety rules for tank cars, with several trains exploding following derailments.
The Norfolk Southern Railway (reporting mark NS[3]) is a Class I railroad in the United States. With headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, the company operates 21,500 route miles in 22 eastern states, the District of Columbia,[4] and has rights in Canada over the Albany to Montréal route, and previously on CN from Buffalo to St. Thomas.[5][6] NS is responsible for maintaining 26,300 miles, with the remainder being operated under trackage rights from other parties responsible for maintenance.[7] The most common commodity hauled on the railway is coal from mines in Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The railway also offers the largest intermodal network in eastern North America. NS is a major transporter of domestic and export coal. The system began in 1982 with the creation of the Norfolk Southern Corporation, a holding company for the Southern Railway (SOU, formed in 1894) and Norfolk & Western Railway (N&W, formed in 1881). The new company was given the name of the Norfolk Southern Railway, an older line acquired by SOU in 1974, that primarily served North Carolina and the southeastern tip of Virginia. Headquarters for the new NS were established in Norfolk, Virginia. The company suffered a slight embarrassment[8] when the marble headpiece at the building's entrance was unveiled, which read "Norfork Southern Railway". A new headpiece replaced the erroneous one several weeks later.[9] NS aimed to compete in the eastern United States with CSX Transportation, formed after the Interstate Commerce Commission's 1980 approval of the merger of the Chessie System and the Seaboard System.
