trivia
-  https://www.quora.com/How-far-can-you-go-into-your-ancestry Most of our peasant European ancestors left little to no record, as they were merely pawns utilized in by those above them in a feudal society. The common man becomes more researchable after the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. The Counter (or Catholic) Reformation followed thereafter. Both resulted in the keeping of records on a parish level which was never required before. These records form the basis for ancestral research in many European countries, so it is not uncommon to trace your lineage to the 1500s.
