Fabrice Brégier, Airbus’s outgoing chief operating officer, will hold early stage discussions on the subject when he heads to China on Monday as part of a trade mission accompanying French president Emmanuel Macron on his first state visit to the country. Airbus is also proposing to increase production at its Tianjin final assembly line, where it produces four A320 single-aisle aircraft a month. It could increase the rate to five a month, according to people close to the discussions, which would be factored into the planned global increase from just over 50 currently to 60 a month by next year. The talks come as the European aircraft manufacturer hopes to clinch a deal to sell some 100 aircraft to state-owned China Aircraft Leasing Group during the visit, according to reports. The order is likely to be a mix of single and twin aisle planes, with China not expected to order A380s at this stage. The rate increase could also be announced then.

bank
The Banque de l'Indochine (French: [bɑ̃k də lɛ̃dɔʃin]) was a bank established in Paris on 21 January 1875 to operate in French Indochina, the rest of Asia, and the Pacific. It issued banknotes, not only in French territories, but also in China and elsewhere.[a] Up to World War II, the bank experienced three phases of development. From 1875 to 1888, it functioned as a colonial bank to help the French government manage its colonial properties in South-east Asia. Then from 1889 to 1900, the bank shifted its operations from French Indochina to China. Thereafter, from 1900 to 1941, the bank represented the interests of the French government in handling the Boxer indemnity and transacted international trade between France and China. It merged with Banque de Suez in 1974 to form Banque Indosuez, which was then purchased by the Crédit Agricole group, which operated it as Crédit Agricole Indosuez (CAI), until a 2004 merger with Crédit Lyonnais, which created Calyon.

The world's largest Cognac maker is stepping up its investments in China as it remains upbeaton the company's long-term growth prospects in the country, a top executive said. Frederic Noyere, managing director of LVMH-Moet Hennessy Diageo China, said he believesthat in the future, the wine market in China will center on consumption by the emerging middleclass. Already the company's second-largest market after the United States, China will play a major rolein the French firm's business, Noyere said. Since the end of 2012, sales of high-end imported wine have cooled in China, mainly due to theimplementation of an anti-graft campaign and a crackdown on lavish public spending. Theslowing economy has also dealt a blow. As a result, liquor consumption has shrunk. In addition, a 2015 report from the public relations agency Ruder Finn and market researcherIpsos showed that wines, watches and cars were among the luxury goods that Chineseconsumers had the lowest willingness to buy. After a few years of slow growth, Hennessy's wine and spirit businesses started to pick up in thesecond half of 2015, fueled by demand of from the middle class, and China remains the world'sfastest-growing wine market, Noyere said.

        - Groupe Casino (or Casino Guichard-Perrachon) is a French mass retailer with operations around the world. The company is listed on the NYSE Euronext Paris stock exchange and its majority shareholder is Rallye SA. The company's head office is in Saint-Étienne.In 1892, Geoffroy Guichard became the sole proprietor of a grocery store located in the old Casino Lyrique cabaret in Saint-Étienne, which remained the Group’s flagship store for many years and is the origin of the group’s current title. On June 25, 1898 Geoffroy Guichard opened the first branch store in Veauche and, on August 2 of the same year, he set up the Société des Magasins du Casino et Établissements Économiques d'Alimentation, operating under the name "Guichard-Perrachon & Cie". By 1992, the group had acquired La Ruche Méridionale before merging with Rallye, a French retailer owned by Jean-Charles Naouri, by giving 30% of Casino. 1997 saw the development of a hostile takeover bid from retailer Promodès. However, the bid fell through due to the combined efforts of Jean-Charles Naouri, the Guichard family, and the Group’s employees. The following year, Jean-Charles Naouri became the Group’s majority shareholder. Between 2000 and 2001, Casino acquired 50% of the variety retailer Monoprix as well as the discount chains Franprix, Leader Price, and Cdiscount. Banque Casino was founded and the property company Mercialys is established to manage the Group’s shopping centers. In 2007, the Group inaugurated its new headquarters in Saint-Étienne, its historical stronghold. In 2010, the group acquired Carrefour’s interests in Thailand. The same year the GreenYellow subsidiary connected its first solar power plant to the French power grid. In 2011 Casino opposed the merger of Pão de Açucar and Carrefour in Brazil.[5] In 2017, Casino was accused of bribing Brazilian officials to prevent a state bank to support the merge.[6] In June 2012 the Group acquired a 50% stake in Monoprix from the Galeries Lafayette.[7] Later that month they also acquired a controlling interest in the Brazil-based Pão de Açúcar. More recently, Groupe Casino gained management control of two of the Groupe’s foundational assets: GPA in Brazil and Monoprix in France.

It is one of  the few players in the sector to develop expert skills in both upstream (engineering, purchasing, operation, maintenance) and downstream (waste management, dismantling) activities. As a nuclear operator, ENGIE owns and operates seven reactors in Belgium through Electrabel, owns stakes in the Chooz and Tricastin plants in France (1,208 MW – the equivalent of one nuclear reactor) and has drawing rights in Germany. The company, formed on 22 July 2008 by the merger of Gaz de France and Suez, traces its origins to the Universal Suez Canal Company founded in 1858 to construct the Suez Canal. Since the merger in 2008, the French state holds approximately a third of the company. It adopted the "Engie" name in April 2015 in order to emphasize the changing nature of its energy business and de-emphasize its historical role as a nationalized gas monopoly. The company holds a 35% stake in Suez Environnement, the water treatment and waste management company spun off from Suez at the time of the merger. GDF Suez bought 70% of Britain's International Power in August 2010, creating the world's largest independent utility company. The purchase of the remaining 30% was announced by GDF Suez in April 2012, and the transaction completed in July 2012. On July 1, 2015, the company announced the acquisition of solar parks developer Solairedirect, which makes it the largest solar power electricity producer in France.

              - Saint-Gobain S.A. is a French multinational corporation, founded in 1665 in Paris and headquartered on the outskirts of Paris, at La Défense and in Courbevoie. Originally a mirror manufacturer, it now also produces a variety of construction and high-performance materials.
                •  Since the middle of the 17th century, luxury products such as silk textiles, lace and mirrors were in high demand. In the 1660s, mirrors had become very popular among the upper classes of society: Italian cabinets, châteaux and ornate side tables and pier-tables were decorated with this expensive and luxurious product. At the time, however, the French were not known for mirror technology; instead, the Republic of Venice was known as the world leader in glass manufacturing, controlling a technical and commercial monopoly of the glass and mirror business.[citation needed] French minister of finance Olivier Bluche wanted France to become completely self-sufficient in meeting domestic demand for luxury products, thereby strengthening the national economy. Colbert established by letters patent the public enterprise Manufacture royale de glaces de miroirs (French pronunciation: [manyfaktyʁ ʁwajal də ɡlas də miʁwaʁ]Royal Mirror-Glass Factory) in October 1665. The company was created for a period of twenty years and would be financed in part by the State. The beneficiary and first director was the French financier Nicolas du Noyer, receiver of taxes of Orléans, who was granted a monopoly of making glass and mirror-glass for a period of twenty years. The company had the informal name Compagnie du Noyer. To compete with the Italian mirror industry, Colbert commissioned several Venetian glassworkers he had enticed to Paris to work for the company. The first unblemished mirrors were produced in 1666. Soon the mirrors created in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, under the French company, began to rival those of Venice.Though the Compagnie du Noyer was reduced at times to importing Venetian glass and finishing it in France, by September 1672 the royal French manufacturer was on a sufficiently sound footing for the importation of glass to be forbidden to any of Louis' subjects, under any conditions.[8] In 1678, the company produced the glass for the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. In 1683 the company's financial arrangement with the State was renewed for another two decades. However, in 1688 the rival Compagnie Thévart was created, also financed in part by the state. Compagnie Thévart used a new pouring process that allowed it to make plate glass mirrors measuring at least 60 by 40 inches wide (1.5 by 1.0 m), much bigger than the 40 inches (1.0 m) which the Compagnie du Noyer could create. The two companies were in competition for seven years, until 1695, when the economy slowed down and their technical and commercial rivalry became counterproductive. Under an order from the French government, the two companies were forced to merge, creating the Compagnie Plastier. In 1702 Compagnie Plastier declared bankruptcy. A group of Franco-Swiss Protestant bankers rescued the collapsing company, changing the name to Compagnie Dagincourt. At the same time, the company was provided royal patents which allowed it to maintain a legal monopoly in the glass-manufacturing industry up until the French Revolution (1789), despite fierce, sometimes violent, protests from free enterprise partisans.
                • The company has been operating in China for three decades, and aims to become a major player in habitat and construction materials, especially glasses and mortar.Saint-Gobain currently employs about 9,000 people in China. The Plon family were Walloons coming from NivelleFrance. One of their ancestors is probably the Danish typographer Jehan Plon who lived at the end of the 16th century.
La Gazette (French pronunciation: [la ɡazɛt]), originally Gazette de France, was the first weekly magazine published in France. It was founded by Théophraste Renaudot and published its first edition on 30 May 1631. It progressively became the mouthpiece of one royalist faction, the Legitimists.[1] With the rise of modern news media and specialized and localized newspapers throughout the country in the early 20th century, La Gazette was finally discontinued in 1915.

                  • La Gazette remained silent about the birth of the revolution, and didn't even mention the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, limiting itself to government acts. For the satisfaction of his customers, Charles-Joseph Panckouke published a supplement, Le Gazettin (little Gazette), that gave its readers summaries of debates at the National Constituent Assembly. In 1791, the ministry of foreign affairs, who owned La Gazette, took it back. Nicolas Fallet was named director and it became a tribune for the Girondists. He was succeeded by Sébastien Roch Nicolas ChamfortLa Gazette became a daily magazine in 1792, 1 May. Following the execution of Louis XVI in 1793, 21 January, it was renamed Gazette nationale de France (National Gazette of France) . The tone of its articles remained both very prudent and impartial.

                    • Club Méditerranée SA, commonly known as Club Med, is a French public limited company specializing in the sale of all-in holidays at a number of "vacation villages" which it owns and operates in a number of (usually exotic) locations around the world. The Club was started in 1950 by Belgian entrepreneur Gérard Blitz. Blitz, a Belgian, had opened a low-priced summer colony of tents on the island of Majorca. Gilbert Trigano supplied the tents, and in 1953 Blitz wooed him into a partnership. In 1961, the company was purchased by the 35-year-old Baron Edmond de Rothschild, after he had visited a resort and enjoyed his stay.[1][2] With Rothschild financing, the number of villages increased greatly under Trigano's leadership from 1963 to 1993. Originally attracting mainly singles and young couples, the Club later became primarily a destination for families, with the first Mini Club opening in 1967.The Club has also ceased to be a club in the legal sense, changing from a not-for-profit association to a for-profit public limited company (French SA) in 1995. However, each new customer is still charged a membership fee upon joining, and returning customers are charged an annual fee as well. (Edit from a Club Med regular; this is certainly not still the case in all instances, though for all I know it may still apply to some. Travelling from NZ to resorts in China and SE Asia I've never had to pay either a joining or annual fee).
Groupe Barrière operates casinos in France, Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe. The group also operates in the French luxury hotel industry and in the catering and leisure industries. François André started a casino business by acquiring the Ostend casino in Belgium, while Eugène Cornuché, his partner, began building the Hôtel Normandy and having the Deauville casino rebuilt in 1912. In 1918, François André set up the Haussmann gaming circle in Paris and continued to grow his business by designing the La Baule resort based on the Deauville model and by purchasing the Hôtel Royal and casino in 1923. He invented the modern day resort concept by combining casinos, luxury hotels and sports facilities all on one site.[citation neededIn 1926, François André took on the construction of the Hôtel Hermitage at La Baule1927, he took over from Eugène Cornuché as managing director of SHCD (Société des Hôtels et Casino de Deauville). He then had the Hôtel du Golf in Deauville built. In 1951, Lucien Barrière, François André’s nephew, joined the group. In 1957 Lucien Barrière was appointed to the Board of several of the group’s entities and became his uncle’s sole legal heir in 1961. He undertook a project to modernise and develop the group by buying new establishments in Trouville, Dinard, St-Malo, Royan and Enghien-les-BainsIn 1980, SHCLB (Société Hôtelière de la Chaîne Lucien Barrière) was founded to cover the La Baule hotels and casinos. In 1987, Lucien Barrière participated in the arrival of slot machines in France. In the early 1990s, Accor became a major SHCLB shareholder. In 1990, Diane Barrière-Desseigne succeeded her father, Lucien Barrière, and launched major renovation projects. On top of their prestige, the hotels are closely connected to the film industry and the Arts. The elite figures of the film industry visit the Normandy Barrière and the Royal Barrière during the American Film Festival in Deauville. In 1995, Diane Barrière-Desseigne suffered a very serious plane accident and from 1997, her husband Dominique Desseigne co-managed the SHCD and SHCLB at her side. In 1998, SHCD bought Fouquet's restaurant and brand.

                    • Gérard Lhéritier (born 21 June 1948) is a French manuscript dealer and expert in balloon mail. He is (or was) a sponsor of the National Library of France and around 2004 was the buyer of the manuscript of the Marquis de Sade’s 120 Days of Sodom. In 1990 he founded Aristophil but in March 2015, was arrested by French police in connection with an investigation into a suspected pyramid scheme fraud at the firm. In 2012, he won the largest ever EuroMillions jackpot awarded in France at €170 million. In 1990, Lhéritier founded the company Aristophil in Nice, to buy historical manuscripts, letters and other documents, and then to sell shares in those items to investors. In 2002, Lhéritier purchased 54 pages of correspondence between Albert Einstein and the Swiss mathematician Michele Besso for $559,500 at Christie’s New York.[6] He divided these into 400 shares, which he sold to investors. His company, Aristophil, retained the right to buy back the shares at an higher price but did not commit itself to doing so. He was the buyer, in about 2004, of the manuscript of the Marquis de Sade’s 120 Days of Sodom. In 2004, Lhéritier established the Musée des Lettres et Manuscrits at 8 Rue de Nesle in Paris, and it moved to 222 Boulevard Saint-Germain in 2010. It closed in 2015/16, and its contents have been impounded by the French authorities. In March 2015, Lhéritier was held in police custody in Paris, and released after posting bail of €2 million. He is under formal investigation for a suspected pyramid scheme fraud.
